Locum Anesthesiologist Opportunities – MemorialCare System (CA)

Start Date: October 1, 2025 – Critical Need!

MemorialCare Health System (Long Beach Memorial, Miller Women’s & Children’s Hospital, and Saddleback Medical Center) is seeking experienced Board-Certified Anesthesiologists for ongoing locum coverage. These are high-acuity sites with diverse case mixes and subspecialty requirements.

Locations

• Long Beach Memorial Medical Center – Long Beach, CA

• Miller Women’s & Children’s Hospital – Long Beach, CA

• MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center – Laguna Hills, CA

Practice Details

• 100% physician-only anesthesia care (no CRNAs/AAs).

• Large, established teams: 45+ anesthesiologists at Long Beach, 18 at Saddleback.

• Teaching environment: anesthesia residency & physician house staff programs.

• Annual Case Volumes:

  • Long Beach: ~28,000 surgical cases / 4,000 OB cases / 2,000 cardiac cases

  • Saddleback: ~8,600 surgical cases / 2,000 OB cases / 1,000 cardiac cases

Case Mix

• Cardiac Anesthesia – always, specialty team only

• OB Anesthesia – usually (OB Fellowship or high-acuity OB experience required)

• Pediatric Anesthesia – specialty team only at LB/Miller’s; rarely at Saddleback

• Neuro, Trauma, Ortho, and Regional Anesthesia – frequent

• No chronic pain management or office-based anesthesia

Schedule / Call

• Call frequency: 1:9 to 1:10 (first and second call)

• Post-call day off: always granted

• Mix of general, OB, cardiac, and specialty coverage based on fellowship/expertise

Requirements

• Board Certified Anesthesiologist (ABA)

• Active California License (required)

• Fellowship or equivalent subspecialty experience in:

  • Cardiac (CV) Anesthesia – Echo certification or CV fellowship required

  • OB Anesthesia – Fellowship or significant high-acuity OB experience required

  • Pediatric Anesthesia – Fellowship required; must be CA Children’s Services (CCS) paneled for Peds cases

• Current ACLS & PALS

• Coverage across three hospitals; Saddleback operates as a standalone team, while Long Beach Memorial and Miller’s share staffing.

• High-priority, critical coverage need – credentialing will be expedited.
