A leading Level 2 Trauma Center in southern Michigan is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Anesthesiologist with Critical Care fellowship training to join its expanding surgical and ICU care team. This full-time, permanent position offers a dynamic mix of ICU and OR duties within a high-acuity setting known for collaboration, innovation, and patient-centered care.

Job Responsibilities

Provide care 8–12 weeks/year in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), including home call

Lead and supervise APPs managing post-op cardiac surgery, vascular, and TAVR patients

Deliver anesthesia services during non-ICU weeks, including general OR, OB, and healthy pediatric cases

Participate in proportional OR call coverage

Contribute to protocol development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and quality improvement

Mentor and teach residents and advanced practice providers

Utilize Epic EMR for all documentation

Qualifications

Fellowship training in Critical Care required

BC/BE in Anesthesiology and Critical Care (must have current board certification or eligibility)

Must be available to start as soon as possible

Must be able to work full-time with no alternate scheduling requests

Must reside within a one-hour commute and not hold concurrent positions

Not open to candidates needing board recertification

Working Hours

Full-time position with a combination of ICU and OR responsibilities

8–12 weeks/year of ICU service

Remainder of time spent in OR with standard call rotation based on ICU coverage

Home call required during ICU weeks

Skills

Strong clinical expertise in critical care and anesthesiology

Leadership in managing complex post-op patients and supervising APP teams

Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills

Dedication to patient safety, innovation, and high-quality outcomes

Comfortable working in a high-acuity, trauma-designated hospital setting
