Seeking three Board Certified/Board Eligible Anesthesiology Physicians to work at the Hampton VA Medical Center, serving the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) beneficiaries. This role requires high-level expertise in anesthesiology, commitment to maintaining certifications, and dedication to serving veterans with the utmost care and professionalism.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Services: Provide comprehensive anesthesiology services, including clinical and surgical care, primarily in cardiac surgery, orthopedic joint replacement, major vascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, plastic, ENT, urologic, and ophthalmologic operations.

Off-hours Coverage: Ensure availability for on-call duties during off-hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with the ability to be onsite within 60 minutes and available by phone within 15 minutes.

Direct Patient Care: Spend approximately 90% of work time involved in direct patient care, including primary coverage in surgical intensive care, short stay unit, acute and chronic pain management services, and more.

Consultations: Provide consultative services both at the patient’s bedside and in the clinic setting as appropriate.

Medication Management: Adhere to all established medication policies and procedures without providing sample medications to patients.

Qualifications

Certification: BC/BE
Licensing: Current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.

Working Hours

Availability: Must be available during VA business hours (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday), with on-call availability for 4:30 p.m. - 8:00 a.m. Monday-Friday and 24 hours on Saturdays, Sundays, and Federal Holidays.

Clinic/OR Schedule: Required presence from 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.
