Job Position: Anesthesiologist

Position Summary: Provide sedation/anesthesia services to patients as part of a busy and established Gastroenterology practice

Essential Functions:

  • Use intravenous method to administer sedation/anesthesia and/or pain medications during outpatient endoscopy procedures (upper endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy)
  • Provide and sustain airway management during endoscopy
  • Determine risk posed by sedation/anesthesia during endoscopy by reviewing the clinical history and assessing the patient pre-endoscopy
  • Monitor the patient’s sedation, pain, and discomfort levels, and adjust medications accordingly before, during and after endoscopy
  • Manage any adverse complications or reactions to and maintain proper clinical documentation regarding sedation/anesthesia
  • Monitor the patient post-procedure and assess clinical status for stability prior to discharge to home
  • Educate patients and families on post-procedure care and possible complications
  • Coordinate with other healthcare staff to provide care as appropriate

Qualifications:

  • Current and unrestricted New York State physician license
  • Board certification in anesthesiology or within one year after completion of fellowship in anesthesiology
  • Active and unrestricted DEA license
  • Commitment to clinical excellence and compassionate care to patients
  • Ability to work well alone and within a team
  • Bi-lingual in English and Chinese strongly preferred
