Job description Dell Children’s Medical Center and the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin are seeking a talented and innovative Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiologist to join the growing Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease.

Founded in 2018, the Center has rapidly expanded, earning a reputation for outstanding clinical outcomes and a strong, collaborative care model. Our program performed 275 pediatric cardiac cases in 2019—including 45 neonatal operations—and has continued to grow in scope and innovation.
Highlights include:
  • Opening of a dedicated pediatric cardiac critical care unit
  • Central Texas’s first pediatric ventricular assist device
  • A state-of-the-art cardiac operating room (opened February 2020), with a second OR soon to follow

What You’ll Do:
  • Provide and supervise direct care for patients before, during, and after cardiac surgery
  • Develop and implement clinical protocols
  • Oversee quality improvement registries related to pediatric cardiac anesthesia
  • Lead educational, quality assurance, and performance improvement efforts
  • Participate in coordinated outreach for the Heart Center
Qualifications:
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
  • Board certification in Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology by the ABA
  • Additional formal training in Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia
  • Eligible for an unrestricted Texas medical license (or able to obtain prior to appointment)
  • Demonstrated skills in clinical teaching, evaluation, and communication
  • Strong ability to lead, influence, and collaborate at multiple professional levels
  • Innovative self-starter with a commitment to excellence and teamwork
  • Eligible for faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery
