Anesthesiologist (Pain Management) – Full-Time – Eglin AFB, FL

Place of Performance: Eglin AFB, FL

Hours of Performance: The Anesthesiologist shall be on duty for the Anesthesiology Department located in the 96th Medical Group for 40 hours per week. Services are for an 8 ½ -hour period to include one-half

hour (non-paid) for lunch, Monday through Friday throughout the term of the agreement.

Routine work hours will be scheduled by the Element Chief to correspond to the needs of the

department and will be subject to change in the scheduling call duties. The Anesthesiologist

shall arrive for each scheduled shift in a well-rested condition and shall have had at least six

hours of rest from all other duties.

On Call/After Duty Response Time. The Anesthesiologist will be required to cover 24-hour

on-call duty approximately 2-5 days per month, including one weekend a month. The

Contractor shall provide on call services on a rotational basis with other MTF Department of

Anesthesia practitioners. The Contractor shall not be simultaneously on call at the MTF and

other medical facilities. The Contractor shall respond for emergency support within 30

minutes after notification. Anesthesiologist will be required to cover 16-24 hour on call duty

approximately 5 days per month.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree: Must have graduated from an approved school in the specialty area required and completed a residency or fellowship acceptable to the US Air Force Surgeon General in Anesthesia. Copies of each certificate are required.
  • Experience: Anesthesiologist shall have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in within the last 3 years
  • Licensure: Possess a valid unrestricted license to practice Anesthesiology in one of the 50 States
  • Certifications:
    • shall be a “Diplomat” of the American Board of Anesthesiologists
    • BLS
    • ACLS
    • PALS

Core Duties:

  • Shall provide anesthesia services for patients as scheduled by the Government. These services include general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, neuraxial anesthesia, and monitored anesthesia care. Workload includes the evaluation and treatment of emergent, urgent, and non-emergent patients ranging in age from infant to over 65 years.
  • Shall provide immediate evaluation and management of emergency problems as they occur.
  • Shall coordinate patient care through a continuum and facilitates the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Shall ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility. The contractor shall provide care within ethical and legal boundaries.
  • Shall assess/evaluate patients, both in person and telephonically.
  • Shall possess ability to recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
  • Shall seek to maintain interpersonal relationships with patients, patient’s family members and coworkers, contributing to mission accomplishment. The contractor shall possess the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with other members of the healthcare team when developing plan of action for patient care, as well as fostering a teaching and education environment. The contractor shall possess and demonstrate “good bedside manner” when communicating with patients and family members. The contractor employees shall respect and maintain the basic rights of patients, demonstrating concern for personal dignity and human relationships.
