Cardiac Anesthesiologist – North Central Iowa
Position Type: Permanent (now accepting Locum candidates as well)
Employer: Hospital-based Group (7 Physicians, 12 CRNAs)
Overview
Join a progressive and growing anesthesia team providing services for both a hospital and ASC in North Central Iowa. This position focuses on Cardiac Anesthesiology with a strong general anesthesia component when cardiac cases are not scheduled.
You’ll work alongside 7 physicians and 12 CRNAs, providing comprehensive anesthesia care and CRNA supervision. The hospital features a Level II Trauma ER and an expanding cardiac surgery program.

Job Responsibilities
General, Cardiac, Thoracic, Vascular, Neuro, Ortho, Pediatric, OB
No Pain Clinic
1 cardiac surgery/day (not daily); 5–7 general cases/day
Must assist with general cases when no cardiac cases are scheduled
Patients: Adolescent to geriatric (very sick pediatric cases are referred out)
ORs: 8 rooms active at a time
EMR: Cerner (transitioning to Epic)
Qualifications
Board Certified or Eligible (within 3 years of training) in Cardiac Anesthesiology – Required
Fellowship-trained and/or TEE Certified (must read, interpret, and bill TEE procedures) – Required
Active Iowa License or IMLC (IA CSR required) – Required
DEA, BLS, ACLS, PALS – Required
COVID Vaccination – Required
Clean malpractice record – No exceptions
Emergency/Temp Privileges: Not available
Working Hours
Setting: Hospital-based (occasional ASC coverage if no cardiac cases)
Schedule:
M/W/F: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
T/Th: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
May stay later for ongoing cases or general coverage
Call:
Cardiac call: Monday–Thursday
General weekend call: ~6 weekends per year + 1 holiday annually
Skills
Total Package: $575,000 (Salary + Benefits)
Sign-On Bonus: $50,000 (3-year commitment)
Loan Repayment: Up to $100,000
Moving Allowance: Up to $10,000
Insurance: Premium paid health, short-term & long-term disability, and professional liability
Allowances:
$2,500 medical allowance
$10,000 education/CME allowance
