Job description
Join a dynamic anesthesia team consisting of seven physicians and twelve CRNAs providing care at a progressive hospital and ambulatory surgery center (ASC) in North Central Iowa. The group covers a broad range of cases, including cardiac, thoracic, vascular, neuro, orthopedic, pediatric, and obstetric surgeries.
This growing cardiac surgery program offers a hospital-based practice with a Level 2 Trauma ER. The position includes cardiac surgery coverage Monday through Thursday with general cases assigned if no cardiac cases are scheduled. Weekend general call is limited to six weekends per year and one holiday annually. Occasional oversight of CRNAs at the ASC may be required.

Job Responsibilities
Cover cardiac call Monday through Thursday; weekend and holiday call limited to general cases (6 weekends + 1 holiday/year)
Oversee CRNA providers as needed, especially at ASC when no cardiac cases are scheduled
Utilize Cerner EMR (transitioning to EPIC) and some paper documentation
Participate in quality improvement and collaborative care efforts within the surgical team
Qualifications
Cardiac Fellowship and/or TEE Certification (must be able to read, interpret, and bill TEE procedures) – Required prior to start
Iowa medical license or IMLC membership (or willingness to obtain) – Required
Iowa CSR – Required
DEA verbal confirmation – Required
Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications – Required
COVID-19 vaccinated – Required
Locum candidates accepted, no visa sponsorship available
Working Hours
Tuesday, Thursday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Extended hours as needed for cardiac or complex cases
No routine calls requirements except limited weekend and holiday general call
