Lead Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant opening in Bridgeport, CT Full-Time | Inpatient Neurosurgery | 70% Clinical / 30% Lead APP Duties | 24/7 Service Line A growing inpatient Neurosurgery service in Bridgeport, Connecticut is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to serve as Lead Advanced Practice Provider. Opportunity Highlights:

  • Lead Neurosurgery APP role with both clinical and frontline leadership responsibilities
  • Support a 24/7 APP-covered inpatient neurosurgical service line
  • Practice with a high level of autonomy while supported by neurosurgeons and experienced APPs
  • Clinical focus includes neurosurgical spine, cranial, neurovascular, and neurotrauma patients
  • Clinical responsibilities include H&Ps, progress notes, consultations, postoperative management, discharge planning, and neurosurgical evaluations throughout the hospital
  • Manage neurosurgical spine and cranial patients in ICU and inpatient floor settings
  • First assist in emergent and elective cranial and spine procedures
  • Participate in interventional radiology coverage for neuroendovascular cases
  • Serve as a clinical resource, mentor, and role model for the Neurosurgery APP team
  • Support onboarding, education, professional development, quality improvement, patient safety, case reviews, M&M discussions, and service-line initiatives
  • Facilitate communication between APPs, physicians, nursing, and leadership
  • Frontline clinical leadership role with no direct personnel management responsibilities

  • Board-Certified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
  • Connecticut license or eligibility
  • First Assist certification or experience required
  • 3-5 years of neurosurgery, neurocritical care, or related neuroscience APP experience preferred
  • Experience as a preceptor, mentor, or clinical leader preferred
  • Quality improvement, education, or program development experience preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
