Join an amazing team of on-site Physician Advisors across the country in a Tenet hospital network of over 60 hospitals strong.

In this role, the physician advisor will develop expertise on matters regarding physician practice patterns, over- and under-utilization of resources, medical necessity, documentation best practices, level of care progression, denial management, and compliance with governmental regulations and commercial insurance contracts.

  • MD or DO
  • At least three years’ experience practicing medicine in a recognized hospital or office environment
  • Current, unrestricted medical license in state of residence
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport with medical staff and hospital leadership
  • Solid computer skills and working knowledge of EMRs
  • You will be asked to perform this role in a hospital office setting (not a remote position)

This position is for qualified physicians seeking to enter the new and growing non-clinical practice specialty of Physician Advising, with a career trajectory towards becoming a key member of the hospital's leadership team charged with meeting the organization's goals and objectives for ensuring the effective, efficient utilization of health care services.

Summary

Responsible for medical staff leadership to the Utilization Management Committee (UMC) and the Case Management (CM) and Health Information Management (HIM)/Clinical Documentation Improvement Departments.
Leads and promotes processes for patients to receive medically necessary and high quality care throughout the continuum of care. Stays abreast of professional best practices and community standards of care. Assists Administration in reducing financial risks associated with denials that are due to providing medically unnecessary or preventable services and extended length of stays.

Education

Doctor of Medicine Degree (M. D. ) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree (D. O. ). Prefer advanced degree in Business and/or Health Care Administration.

Experience

2 years in a physician leadership role. Prefer Utilization Management and hospital committee chair. Prefer demonstrated ability to work in a collegial role with members of the medical staff and to engage in education to hospital medical staff. Prefer successfully conducted physician to physician discussions with payers.

Certifications

Current State MD or DO License and an ABMS (American Board of Medical Specialties) Certification.

The 156-bed [Register to View] is located on 23.6 acres at Kate Bond Road and U.S. Highway 64 in the city of Bartlett. This facility has the following features:

  • 88 medical/surgical beds
  • 16 orthopedic/spine beds
  • 10 mother-baby suites, 10 NICU beds, 16 ICU beds, and 16 PCU beds
  • 6 surgery suites
  • 24-hour emergency room
  • dedicated outpatient imaging center
