Our client, a reputable clinic in Philadelphia, PA, is seeking an Addiction Medicine Physician to join their team on a locum basis. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience and be comfortable prescribing methadone. This position offers an opportunity to work in a supportive environment focused on providing Outpatient Medication Assisted Treatment, Peer Support, and Case Management Services to patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide outpatient addiction medicine services, including evaluations, physicals, and medication management.
  • Prescribe and manage methadone, Suboxone, Vivitrol, and other medications as appropriate for patients undergoing treatment.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for patients with opiate addiction.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including nurses, counselors, and peer support specialists to provide holistic care.
  • Ensure compliance with all state OTP licensing requirements, including maintaining a DEA license and any necessary certifications.

Job Responsibilities

Participates in Compliance Reviews and Audits:
Engage in compliance reviews, chart audits, and case consultations to maintain and enhance the quality of care provided in behavioral health and medical services. Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and best practices to uphold the highest standards of patient care.

Promotes Integration of Care:
Support the company goal of integrating behavioral health and medical services to provide comprehensive care to clients.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless coordination of care for clients with co-occurring disorders.

Determines Proper Dosage and Medication:
Assess clients to determine appropriate dosage levels and select the most suitable opioid agonist medication for treatment.
Prescribe, order, and adjust medication-assisted treatment dosages based on individual client needs and response to treatment.

Conducts Physical Examinations:
Conduct thorough physical examinations to assess the health status of clients seeking narcotic treatment. Certify the eligibility of each applicant for narcotic treatment based on physical examination findings and medical history.

Attends Treatment Team Meetings:
Participate in treatment team meetings to discuss client progress, treatment plans, and interdisciplinary care coordination. Contribute expertise and collaborate with team members to optimize treatment outcomes for clients.

Ensures Compliance:
Maintain compliance with State Licensure Standards, accreditation standards, 42 CFR, HIPAA standards, and company policies. Adhere to legal and ethical guidelines governing the practice of addiction medicine and medication-assisted treatment.

Qualifications

Active MD License
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
Board certification in Addictions or completion of an approved course of study in opiate addiction within one year.
DEA license and ability to obtain an X Waiver.
ASAM certification preferred.
Training or experience in treating persons with opiate addiction.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Successful completion of state-required background checks and trainings (e.g., CPR and First Aid).
Minimum of 1 year experience in addiction medicine.

Working Hours

Schedule: Two days a week, flexible within clinic hours

Clinic Hours:
Monday to Friday: 7:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Saturday and Sunday: 6:00 AM - 12:30 PM
