A community health center located under 1 hour to Boston, MA is seeking an experienced Addiction Medicine Specialist for a full-time/permanent position, that is 80% clinical, 20% administrative. Hours are typically Mon-Fri 8am-5pm but may be flexible. Several days may be spent in an opioid addiction treatment facility.

Here you will serve a diverse patient base and work with a dynamic team of passionate and talented individuals.

In this role you will provide Office Based Addiction Treatment (OBAT): OBAT philosophy is that substance use disorder is a chronic medical condition which responds best when treated with evidence-based, patient-centered, comprehensive medical care. The goal is cessation or reduction in harmful substance use, active participation and engagement with in treatment, restoration of normal psychological functions, and improvement's in one's quality of life. Other responsibilities include:

-Work with primary care and behavioral health counselors as well as OBAT nurse case managers to assist patients in their recovery from substance use.
-Conditions/Disorders treated include: opioid use disorder, alcohol use disorder, cocaine, marijuana, tobacco, and other substances.
-Provide Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT)
-Provide outpatient treatment of withdrawal symptoms
-Consult with primary care and behavioral health teams on the ongoing management of addiction related needs of their patients
-Serve as liaison/guide to other departments to facilitate substance use disorder screening and treatment across service divisions
-Participate in case conferences with the treatment team to develop a plan that improves the patients health and quality of life
-Works to improve access, engagement and clinical outcomes for patients in the OBAT program
-Provides continues education and training to all health center employees on evidence-based practices for the treatment of addiction
-Actively participates in the internal quality-improvement teams and works with other members to drive quality improvement initiatives in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization, federal/state/local laws, and regulations, and accreditation standards
-Implements metrics for monitoring program effectiveness and assists in leading quality improvement efforts
-Serves as an ambassador and advocate for addiction services on a local and state level.
-Develops and maintains relationships with community partners and referral sources.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Licensed Physician in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Board Certified in Addiction Medicine
  • Current valid and unrestricted DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registrations with no prior history of denial or revocation of DEA.

    -Must have Buprenorphine Waiver ( Data 2000)
