The California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM) has initiated an international search for an innovative and highly collaborative leader to serve as the next Dean, CUSM School of Medicine located in San Bernardino, CA.
The Dean is the principal leader and advocate for the School of Medicine’s programs. The Dean serves as a member of the CUSM Executive Committee and, as such, participates in providing direction related to the institutional vision, mission, values and strategic direction of CUSM School of Medicine. She/he is responsible for the definition and implementation of strategic priorities for the School of Medicine and also for the development of mechanisms to review performance in achieving the objectives of those priorities. The Dean is expected to work constructively and collaboratively with faculty and other leaders to achieve the overall institutional goals.
The California University of Science and Medicine School of Medicine is a private, not-for-profit medical school that is committed to educating future physicians who will embrace the responsibility for improving the health and health care needs of communities and serve as advocates for the elimination of health disparities. CUSM School of Medicine, founded in 2015 and accredited in 2018, offers a four-year medical education program leading to a Medical Doctorate (MD) degree. The inaugural class began this past July 2018, at a class size of 64.
Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is the teaching hospital for CUSM. ARMC is a 456-bed teaching hospital located on a 70-acre campus in Colton, California. It is a designated Level II trauma center and operates a regional burn center, a primary stroke center, a behavioral health center, four primary care centers, three Family Health Centers, and more than 40 outpatient specialty care services. Additional community-focused partnerships allow CUSM to make connections between academic medicine and the surrounding community to improve health outcomes for area residents.
The ideal candidate will have an MD or MD/PhD and have scholarly and professional achievement meriting the academic rank of Professor with a continuing appointment in an appropriate clinical department. We are especially interested in applicants with a successful track record of funding for their research in any of the following areas: genomics, proteomics, nanomics, immunotherapeutics, bioinformatics, and medical robotics.
