The Opportunity
A leading national radiology practice is seeking a Founding Program Director to build and lead a brand-new, ACGME-accredited Diagnostic Radiology residency program at a major academic medical center in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is a rare greenfield opportunity to design a residency from the ground up — shaping curriculum, recruiting the inaugural resident class, assembling the teaching framework, and establishing the program's culture and identity from day one.
The program has already achieved Continued ACGME Accreditation (since 2023) and has seven core faculty in place spanning interventional radiology, musculoskeletal, breast, abdominal, neuroradiology, nuclear medicine, and cardiothoracic imaging. What’s missing is the founding leader to bring it all together.
Program Highlights

Resident Recruitment: Begins Fall 2026; Match in early 2027

First Class Start: Fall 2027 — two residents per year, growing to a maximum of eight over four years

Core Faculty: Seven faculty across all major subspecialties already in place

Research Requirement: None — this is a clinically focused teaching program

Work Model: Hybrid schedule available for the Program Director role with 3 days onsite / 2 days remote
Compensation & Schedule

Base Compensation: $650,000
-
Clinical/Academic Split: 75% clinical / 25% academic administration
-
Annual Shifts: 200 total — 148 clinical reads in the PD’s subspecialty of choice; 52 shifts dedicated exclusively to program administration

Call Structure: Minimum every 6th weekend (varies by subspecialty)

Qualifications
Required
-
Board certification in Diagnostic Radiology (ABR or osteopathic equivalent)

Minimum three (3) years of experience as a faculty member in an ACGME-accredited program

Documented educational and administrative experience in graduate medical education

Demonstrated ongoing clinical activity in radiology

Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Indiana
Preferred
-
Prior experience as a Program Director, Associate Program Director, or Core Faculty member in a radiology residency

Track record of curriculum development, resident mentorship, or ACGME accreditation work
-
Fellowship training in any radiology subspecialty
