The Chief of Anesthesiology will provide strategic and operational direction for the Department of Anesthesiology, with oversight of the Preoperative Department, Operating Rooms (ORs), and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The ideal candidate will be a decisive, collaborative, and visionary physician-leader with the ability to execute change, drive performance, and elevate clinical standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate clearly and confidently across clinical and administrative teams
  • Drive and manage change initiatives with integrity and effectiveness
  • Foster a culture of collaboration among anesthesiology, surgical, and nursing colleagues
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and accountability for service line performance
  • Lead by example and operate with a high degree of autonomy
  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Preoperative Department, with a mandate to optimize performance and enhance its contribution to hospital revenue
  • Assume full responsibility for the Operating Rooms (OR) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
  • Maintain a 50% clinical / 50% administrative workload, with flexibility in clinical scheduling and call responsibilities
  • Recruit, mentor, and retain a high-performing team of anesthesiology professionals
  • Collaborate closely with surgical, perioperative, and hospital leadership to improve quality, safety, and patient outcomes

Requirements:

  • Board-certified in Anesthesiology
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership within a hospital setting
  • Track record of implementing change and improving departmental operations
  • Strong interpersonal, strategic, and operational management skills
  • Passion for service in a diverse, high-acuity urban environment

This role is ideal for a confident, change-oriented physician leader eager to drive transformation, enhance surgical services, and improve patient outcomes in a vibrant, high-impact community hospital setting.
