• Position: Critical Care Physician Assistant – Locum Tenens
• Location: Oakland, CA 94602
• Setting: Hospital-based trauma, emergency medicine, and critical care environment
• Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, primarily days; may consider 5x8s; nights as needed
• Shift Duration: 12-hour days
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Coverage Need: Full-time
• Call: No call required
• Start Date: 12/7/2026
• End Date: 6/7/2027
• Duration: 26 weeks
• Orientation: 8 hours
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $5,040-$5,400

Job Requirements

• Current California Physician Assistant license in hand at time of submission
• Minimum of 1 year of trauma experience
• Level I trauma experience strongly preferred
• BLS and ACLS required
• DEA registration in California required
• ATLS preferred, with willingness to obtain within 1 year of start
• Experience with arterial lines and central lines strongly preferred
• Chest tube experience strongly preferred
• Critical care, ICU, ED, neurosurgery, or orthopedics experience valued
• Must be comfortable working with adult patients across a wide acuity range
• Strong communication and responsiveness essential for the privileging process

Responsibilities

• Provide care for critically ill and injured patients across the ED, floor, ICU, and clinic settings
• Support a high-volume trauma service serving a broad adult patient population
• Assess, stabilize, and manage patients with complex conditions including shock, ACS, stroke, neurosurgical, and orthopedic cases
• Collaborate closely with physicians, residents, and multidisciplinary staff to deliver seamless patient care
• Assist with high-acuity trauma workflows and patient management throughout the continuum of care
• Use EPIC for documentation and clinical coordination
• Contribute to efficient, patient-centered care in a busy and dynamic critical care environment
