Responsibilities and Duties
- Evaluate and treat walk-in patients with acute illnesses, minor injuries, infections, and urgent but non-emergent conditions
- Perform basic procedures including suturing, splinting, incision and drainage, wound care, and abscess management
- Order, interpret, and act on diagnostics such as labs, X-rays, and EKGs to guide treatment
- Prescribe medications and manage short-term treatment plans
- Collaborate with physicians and hospital staff for escalations, transfers, or referrals when higher-level care is needed
- Educate patients and families on follow-up care, prevention, and the appropriate use of urgent care services
- Maintain accurate EMR documentation and ensure compliance with hospital protocols and state regulations
Additional Information
- Previous urgent care, emergency, or high-volume primary care experience required
- Skilled in common urgent care procedures (suturing, splinting, incision and drainage, wound management)
- Comfortable managing diverse patient populations across all ages
- Experience ordering and interpreting labs, imaging, and EKGs independently
- Strong adaptability and communication skills suited for community-based settings
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Proficiency with Meditech EHR
