Job description

Job description We are seeking an experienced Urgent Care Physician Assistant for a 50-day locum tenens assignment in California, starting Mar 2, 2026. This opportunity features 3 shifts per week (9pm–7am or 4pm–2am) and involves both urgent care and emergency department coverage.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Manage 3–4 low acuity patients per hour, including ankle sprains, stitches, and major joint complaints
  • Perform complex laceration repairs efficiently
  • Conduct neonatal and pediatric assessments, including newborns from the first day of life
  • Read and interpret X-rays, adhering to established guidelines for ordering imaging
  • Provide care in both urgent care and regular emergency department settings

Additional Information
  • Minimum 3 years of emergency department experience required; candidates with 2 years of fast track urgent care experience and 2 years of ED experience will also be considered
  • Must hold current certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and DEA registration
  • Required board certification in Family Medicine
