Position Overview

Seeking experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery APPs (NP or PA) for ongoing weekend call coverage at a 163-bed acute care hospital. This role is ideal for providers comfortable with high-acuity cardiac cases and looking for a structured, weekend-focused schedule with strong physician support.

Schedule

• Weekend Coverage: Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM
• Call Type: 24-hour call
• Frequency: 3 weekends per month
• Average Callback: ~4 hours/day (including rounding)

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide cardiothoracic surgical support for adult patients (18+)
• Manage urgent surgical cases (cath lab to OR workflow)
• Perform vein harvesting
• Round on post-op patients and assist with care transitions (ICU to discharge)
• Collaborate closely with surgeons (available for backup after consults)

Practice Details

• Setting: Acute Care Hospital
• EMR: Epic
• Support: APP team environment
• Patient Flow: Mix of urgent surgical cases; stable patients may be scheduled for weekday procedures

Requirements

• NP or PA with cardiothoracic surgery experience
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
• Active PA license (or willing to obtain)
• DEA required
• Acute Care certification not required

• Credentialing timeframe: ~90 days (temporary privileges available for clean files)
• Orientation: All hours billable
• Gratis: 2 hours
