Enhancing patients’ experience by providing clinical/clerical/technical tasks, in a manner consistent with the Code of Conduct. Focus on patient rooming in the clinic, planning, coordinating, and facilitating of patient care activities for patients under the direction of a Provider. “Assist the Clinical Assistant” by answering telephone calls, taking accurate information, and relaying messages appropriately; prep patient charts as needed; verifies insurance, referral, and patient demographic information, collects co-pays, discharges patients, and schedules appointments. Excellent prioritization, decision-making, multi-tasking skills are essential in this key position. Services will be provided to patients of the following age population(s) adolescent to elderly in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in facilitating patient flow during physician office hours including the greeting upon arrival, escorting patients to exam rooms and obtaining information.
  • Interviews patients, obtains vital signs as indicated. Performs intake prior to patient examination with the Provider and enters information into the EMR (Electronic Medical Record).
  • Functions as a backup to other clinical/clerical staff when necessary and a liaison between Provider/Clinical/PSR staff
  • Utilizes other clinical staff and Providers for direction when appropriate.
  • Reviews daily physician schedule to trouble shoot any potential conflicts.
  • Checks charts for pending studies and follows up on pending studies Advises patients of what to bring with them to their initial visits including x-rays, insurance information, referrals, appropriate attire, co-payments, etc
  • Assist with prior authorizations including radiology, medications, DME
  • Maintains files, records, and reports related to clinical activity
  • Handles patient related correspondence including patient and patient related phone calls, insurance forms, reports and mail.
  • Answers calls and delegates as appropriate per practice guidelines
  • Forwards calls to appropriate clinical staff when necessary
  • Ensures that the clinic area is kept neat, clean and stocked at all times
  • Ensures proper disposal of infectious waste materials
  • Responsible for replenishing supplies in all office clinic areas
  • Works to improve patient satisfaction as appropriate
  • Gathers and compiles data as requested by the department manager or administrator
  • Participates in the development and revision of department policies and procedures
  • Participates in departmental projects, reports and research
  • Adheres to department and institutional policies and procedures
  • Participate in continuing education seminars
  • Performs other job-related activities as assigned by manager

Education/Training/Experience:

High school graduate or equivalent required. One year of clerical/clinical experience required.

Licenses/Certifications:

CPR required
