🏥 Position Overview

The Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant will support the open-heart surgical program and work collaboratively with surgeons, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care.

This role involves clinical decision-making, surgical support, and perioperative management while also providing leadership and mentorship to other team members.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

✨ Assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including open-heart surgeries
✨ Provide first assist support in the operating room
✨ Perform patient assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning
✨ Order and interpret diagnostic tests and medications
✨ Deliver pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative patient care
✨ Collaborate closely with surgeons, physicians, and medical staff
✨ Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to PA team members
✨ Ensure high standards of patient safety and quality care

🎓 Qualifications

✔ Graduate of an Accredited Physician Assistant Program (Master’s preferred)
✔ Recent OR experience required
✔ Cardiothoracic Surgery First Assist experience preferred
✔ Vessel harvesting experience preferred
✔ Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
✔ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

📜 Licensure & Certifications

✅ Current New York State Physician Assistant License/Registration
✅ NCCPA Certification
✅ Unrestricted DEA License for mid-level providers
✅ BLS & ACLS Certification
✅ NYS Infection Control Certificate (renewable every four years)
✅ Experience with Epic EMR preferred

⏰ Schedule

🕒 Full-Time | 12.5 Hour Day Shifts
📅 Structured rotating schedule
