An established, high-volume healthcare system in the Northeast is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide locum tenens Thoracic Surgery coverage during a temporary leave. This travel-supported assignment offers a flexible daytime schedule, minimal call, and the opportunity to work alongside seasoned thoracic surgeons in a well-resourced surgical environment.
The APP will support care across the operating room, inpatient units, and outpatient clinic, with a strong focus on minimally invasive and robotic thoracic procedures. Providers will be integrated into collaborative surgical teams and gain exposure to multiple flagship facilities within a respected health system.

Job Responsibilities
Assist with minimally invasive and robotic thoracic surgeries
Perform inpatient rounding, admissions, and discharges
Manage post-operative patient care and daily progress notes
Conduct outpatient clinic visits and post-op follow-ups
Coordinate perioperative care in collaboration with thoracic surgeons and surgical teams
Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic studies as appropriate
Provide patient and family education regarding procedures and recovery
Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the EMR
Participate in multidisciplinary care planning to support optimal patient outcomes
Qualifications
Active state PA or NP license (compact-friendly; must be eligible for assignment state licensure)
Active DEA and controlled substance registration
Minimum of 2 years of Thoracic (non-cardiac) Surgery experience
Robotic surgery experience required
Proven first-assist operating room experience
Experience with minimally invasive thoracic procedures strongly preferred
Ability to manage inpatient, OR, and outpatient responsibilities independently
Proficiency with Epic EMR or comparable electronic medical record systems
Current BLS and ACLS certifications
Up-to-date immunizations, including influenza
Ability to commit to the full assignment duration and complete credentialing requirements

10-hour shifts

Skills
Robotic surgery proficiency and familiarity with minimally invasive techniques
Strong first-assist skills in the operating room
Inpatient management and post-operative care expertise
Ability to independently assess, diagnose, and manage surgical patients
Excellent perioperative care coordination skills
Proficiency in EMR documentation (Epic preferred)
Strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities
Effective communication and collaboration within multidisciplinary surgical teams
Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced surgical environment
