Locum Cardiothoracic-Surgery PAs Needed in Ohio! Let's talk!

ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a Physician Assistant to provide inpatient and postoperative care coverage. This role supports an open position during the training of a new hire and offers autonomous practice with consistent physician oversight. The PA will care for adult and geriatric patients in inpatient, post-op, and ICU settings within a Level 1 trauma environment.

Dates / Schedule

• Coverage Period: January–April (ongoing coverage thereafter TBD)

• Commitment: Approximately 10 days per month, covering two weekends

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

• Call: 10 days of call per month

  • Call ratio: 1:3

• Credentialing Timeframe: Estimated 60–90 days (may be expedited with a clean file)

Job Details & Responsibilities

• Practice setting includes office hours, inpatient post-operative floors, and ICU care

• Average patient volume of approximately 12 patients per day

• Work autonomously with supervising physician rounding daily and available 24/7 by phone

• Level 1 trauma center setting

• Use EPIC EMR for documentation

• Core responsibilities include:

  • Suture removal

  • Diagnosing and treating illnesses

  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests

  • Writing prescriptions

  • Performing pre-operative physical exams

  • Daily rounding and coordination of care
    

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Certified Physician Assistant with NCCPA certification (required)

• Active Ohio Physician Assistant license (required)

• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)

• Relevant clinical training and experience (required)

• Ability to practice autonomously in inpatient and ICU settings

• Experience caring for adult and geriatric patient populations

• 100% clean background check required; no exceptions
