📌 Description:
A high-acuity Cardiothoracic Surgery PA locum role offering immediate start. Work in a fast-paced surgical environment with OR first-assist responsibilities, rounding, consults, and advanced cardiac procedures. Perfect for experienced PAs ready to jump into a high-volume service.
Job Responsibilities
• First Assist in cardiac surgery
• Perform endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH)
• Retrieve vascular tissues for bypass
• Perform chest tube insertions
• Inpatient rounding (ICU & floor)
• Diagnose and treat cardiac-related conditions
• Order/interpret tests & write prescriptions
• Handle consults and coordinate patient care
• Suture removal and post-op management
• Participate in weekday, weekend & night call
Qualifications
• NCCPA Certified – Required
• Active New Jersey PA License – Required
• CSR, BLS & ACLS – Required
• 2–3 years minimum cardiothoracic surgery experience
• Fully proficient in EVH (Endoscopic Vein Harvesting)
• Must start ASAP
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Must function independently in OR and participate in all operative cases
Working Hours
• Weekdays: 8–10 hour in-house shifts (Mon–Fri)
• Night Call: 6 PM – 6 AM
• Weekend Call: Fri 6 PM – Mon 6 AM
o Includes rounding 7 AM – 12 PM on Sat & Sun
Skills

• High-level autonomy in cardiac surgery
• EMR proficiency (Cerner preferred)
