Position: Locum Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant (PA)
Location: New Jersey
Practice Setting: Inpatient / Hospital-based
Dates of Coverage: ASAP
Patient & Procedure Details

Average patients per day: Operate on 2/day; round on 5–12 patients/day (ICU and floor), including consults

Required Procedures:
-
Retrieval of vascular tissues for bypass conduit
-
Endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH)
-
Chest tube insertions
-
First assist in cardiac surgery

Schedule
-
Weekdays: Monday–Friday, 8–10 hr in-house
-
Night Call: 6 PM – 6 AM
-
Weekend Call: Friday 6 PM – Monday 6 AM, rounding 7 AM – 12 PM Saturday & Sunday
Job Responsibilities
Rounding on patients and coordinating care
Assisting in cardiac surgeries
Diagnosing and treating illnesses
Ordering and interpreting tests
Writing prescriptions and suture removal
Support & Systems
EMR: Cerner (experience preferred)
Trauma Level: None
Support: Standard OR and floor support staff available
Mileage/toll reimbursements; lodging available for the right candidate
Required Qualifications
NCCPA Certification – Required
New Jersey State License – Required
CSR Certification – Required
Minimum 2–3 years of Cardiothoracic Surgery experience, including proficiency in EVH and first assist – Required
Experience with Cerner EMR – Preferred
Skills
Work in a high-acuity cardiac surgery environment
Flexible coverage including weekday, weekend, and night shifts
