Physician Assistant – Cardiothoracic Surgery
Location: New Jersey

We are seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join a cardiothoracic surgery team for inpatient, hospital-based coverage. This role involves surgical first assist, rounding, and call coverage in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Position Details:

• Setting: Inpatient / Hospital-based

• Start Date: ASAP – October 2

• Schedule:

  • Weekdays: Monday–Friday, 8–10 hour shifts in-house

  • Night Call: 6 PM – 6 AM

  • Weekend Call: Friday 6 PM – Monday 6 AM (rounding from 7 AM–12 PM Saturday & Sunday)

• Patient Volume: Operate on 2/day; round on 5–12/day (ICU and floor); includes consults

• EMR: Cerner

• Trauma Level: None

Key Responsibilities:

• Surgical first assist in cardiac surgery

• Endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) and vascular tissue retrieval for bypass conduits

• Chest tube insertion

• Rounding and coordination of patient care

• Diagnosis and treatment of illnesses

• Ordering and interpreting tests

• Writing prescriptions

• Suture removal

Qualifications:

• NCCPA Certified – Required

• Active New Jersey license – Required (no licensing time available)

• 2–3+ years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery – Required

• Proficiency in Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) – Required

• Experience with Cerner EMR – Preferred

• ACLS & BLS certifications – Required
