Job description
Seeking a full-time Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant in north-central IA, for Medical Center named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals and Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospitals.
Highlights:
- Current staffing is 1 Physician, 3 PAs, and 1 Nurse
- Mix of Inpt/Outpt, clinic and surgery
- Call 1:3 - Call is currently for emergency surgeries only (approx. 10 per year)
- Required: 1-2 Years of experience in CT surgery assist with >50 endoscopic vein harvests using the maquet system
General Summary:
- Assists in performing surgical procedures such as suturing skin, placing monitoring catheters and pacing wires, and other related duties as directed by surgeon
- Ensures patient is prepared for surgery by conducting compete physical examinations and patient histories, ordering necessary support hose, and having angiogram films in the operating room
- Makes rounds on patients which involves reviewing nurse's notes, laboratory data and the like in order to evaluate patient's current condition
- Follows prescribed guidelines for removing pacing wires and staples after surgery
- Notifies surgeon of abnormal patient conditions and performs various related duties within the office
