JOB OVERVIEW
• Job Title: Physician Assistant – Neurosurgery
• Job Type: Locum Tenens
• Location: Cooperstown, NY
• Service Setting: Inpatient/Outpatient
• Coverage Type: Clinical Only
• Coverage Period: 04/15/2026 – Ongoing
• Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00a – 5:00p
• On-Call Shift Schedule: No required call; optional call available at additional compensation
COVERAGE DATES
• Starting 04/15/2026 – Ongoing (one-year assignment with option to extend)
PATIENT INFORMATION
• Patient Demographics: Adults
• Patient Volume/Census: Varies based on elective surgery schedule
• Admissions: Yes; ICU patients typically consults
• Rounding: Included as clinically appropriate
• Phone Consults: As clinically appropriate
• Case Mix: Neurosurgery practice focused approximately 80% on spine and 20% cranial cases with a broad neurosurgical case spectrum
FACILITY INFORMATION
• EMR System: Epic
• Office Equipment Available: Standard neurosurgical and operating room equipment
• Specialty Backup Available: Full-time neurosurgery attending onsite
• Support Staff Available: APP coverage with formal sign-out for evening and weekend coverage
• Reason for Coverage: Supplemental locum coverage
PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
• Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
• Temporary Privileges Available: Expedited credentialing required
• Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 120 days standard; expedited processing requested

REQUIRED PROCEDURES
• First assist in neurosurgical procedures
• Suturing and wound management
• Wound aspirations
• Participation in perioperative patient management
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Licenses: Active New York license required or ability to obtain
• Board: Physician Assistant certification required
• Experience: Neurosurgery or surgical first assist experience preferred
• Other Qualifications: Experience with Epic EMR preferred
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist neurosurgeon in operative cases as first assist
• Provide preoperative and postoperative patient care
• Participate in inpatient consults and patient evaluations
• Collaborate with neurosurgery attending and care team
• Document patient encounters and procedures in Epic EMR
