Job description
We are seeking an experienced Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a full-time locum tenens assignment. This role supports two neurosurgeons with inpatient, outpatient, surgical, and on-call coverage at a Level II Trauma and Level III PEDS facility.
- First assist in neurosurgical procedures (craniotomy, spinal fusion, aneurysm interventions, etc.)
- Independent rounding across hospital units including NICU, PICU, ICU, and Med/Surg
- Respond to hospital and ER consultations
- Conduct outpatient consultations, post-op follow-ups, and ongoing patient care
- Manage patient calls, refill requests, FMLA forms, and medication orders
- Call rotation: 1 in 3 weekdays/weekends (beeper, 20-min response time)
- Handle 10–12 patients/day in clinic (Mon–Fri, 8 AM–5 PM)
- Surgical first assist
- Bedside procedures
- Familiarity with craniotomy, decompressive surgeries, and spinal interventions
- Experience with both adult and pediatric neurosurgical cases preferred
- Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM
- Optional 12-hour shifts available
- Call schedule: 1:3 weekday/weekend
- Call Type: Beeper
Job Responsibilities

Board Certified and eligible to practice as NP/PA
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS
Credentialing: Approx. 60 days
