Required Skills:
  • Valid NY State License
  • Minimum of 2 years recent surgical and hospital experience
  • Certification in AHA BLS, ACLS, ATLS
  • Proficiency in performing wound cauterization, vessel control, suturing, and hemostasis
  • Ability to position patients, assist in suturing, closing skin, and applying pressure
  • Skilled in suction, drainage, irrigation, and immobilization techniques
  • Experience with EPIC charting system
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong teamwork and adaptability in fast-paced settings

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience in General Surgery, OB/GYN, or Orthopedic specialties
  • Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical records
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments including OR and floor coverage
  • Knowledge of automated medication dispensing systems (Pixys)

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Certification in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited program
  • At least 2 years of recent surgical support experience in a hospital setting
  • Proven ability to manage adult acutely ill patient populations

Other Requirements:
  • Availability for upcoming August coverage with potential extension until year-end
  • Willingness to work day shifts, weekday and weekend call, including night shifts
  • Must adhere to hospital dress code, safety standards, and professional appearance policies
  • Overtime must be pre-approved; leave promptly requested with 2-hour notice for call-ins
  • No cell phone use during clinical hours; professional attire required
