We are seeking an experienced Physician Assistant (PA) for a General Surgery locum opportunity in New York. This role offers a great mix of first assist in the OR and surgical floor coverage, working alongside a collaborative care team.
Position Highlights:
- August coverage with strong potential for extension
- Flexible scheduling options (8s, 10s, or 12s)
- Day shifts with optional weekday and weekend call
- Mix of OR first assist and inpatient floor responsibilities
- Work across General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedic cases
- Supportive team environment with APP and anesthesia coverage
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in surgical procedures (first assist)
- Perform suturing, wound care, and hemostasis
- Manage inpatient rounding, consults, and discharges
- Provide pre- and post-operative patient care
- Collaborate closely with physicians and healthcare staff
Requirements:
- Active New York PA license (required)
- Minimum 2 years of recent surgical experience
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- BLS, ACLS, ATLS certifications
Practice Setting:
- Acute care hospital environment
- Adult patient population with varied acuity
- Combination of OR and medical-surgical floor coverage
