Join Our Team as a Locum Physician Assistant (PA) – Surgery – Cardiothoracic in Springfield, OH

Are you a dedicated Physician Assistant with experience in cardiothoracic or vascular surgery seeking a rewarding locum opportunity? Our esteemed healthcare facility is looking for a highly skilled PA to support our surgical team at Springfield Regional Medical Center. This pivotal role offers a chance to contribute to complex cardiac care while enjoying flexible scheduling and competitive compensation.

In this position, you will collaborate closely with our cardiovascular surgeons and healthcare professionals to deliver top-tier patient care. You will assist in preoperative and postoperative procedures, coordinate care plans, interpret diagnostic tests, and support surgical activities—making a tangible difference in adult and geriatric patient outcomes. This role entails OR and ICU/CVICU call duties, providing comprehensive exposure within a dynamic cardiothoracic surgical environment.

Required Skills:
  • Valid Physician Assistant licensure and certification
  • Valid BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Proven experience in cardiothoracic or vascular surgery, critical care, or related fields (preferably with surgical procedural experience)
  • Proficiency in Epic EMR system
  • Strong assessment and communication skills
  • Ability to perform patient rounding, interpret tests, and assist with vein harvesting and vascular tissue retrieval (not mandatory)

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with vein harvesting or vascular tissue retrieval
  • Prior exposure to OR and ICU/CVICU settings
  • Surgical Nurse Practitioner (NP) qualification

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Minimum of 3-5 years relevant clinical experience
  • Previous work in cardiothoracic or vascular surgical environments

Other Requirements:
  • Availability for coverage from April through July, specific dates to be determined
  • Able to obtain temporary privileges within 45 days, with credentialing completed within 60-90 days
  • Willingness to participate in OR and ICU/CVICU call rotations
  • Willing to consider candidates with surgical NP backgrounds
