Physician Assistant - General Surgery

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Physician Assistant specializing in General Surgery, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional surgical care in a fast-paced clinical environment. This locum opportunity offers a chance to showcase your surgical expertise, work alongside experienced professionals, and make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes over an 8-10 week period.

In this role, you will primarily function as a first assist in the operating room and manage inpatient care, with a focus on surgical oncology and general surgery cases. The position involves full-time coverage Monday through Friday, with flexible shift times, including lighter days and a dedicated block day for major cases. No call responsibilities are required, and the schedule ensures guaranteed 40 hours per week, with OT opportunities after 40 hours.

Required Skills:
  • Active California Physician Assistant license and CA DEA certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of surgical experience, with proficiency in OR procedures and patient management
  • Experience as a PA first assistant, capable of working independently
  • Knowledge of managing patient calls and clinical documentation, including notes and HMPs
  • Strong surgical skills in both inpatient and outpatient settings

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Robotics experience and certification (please attach certification if available)
  • Familiarity with handling a variety of surgical cases, including oncology and general surgery

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Certified Physician Assistant with at least 2 years of relevant surgical practice
  • Demonstrated competency in managing multiple case types and surgical procedures

Other Requirements:
  • No travel required
  • Ability to adapt to varying schedule shifts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and safety
