This position offers a strong inpatient focus, procedural exposure, and a predictable schedule while practicing at the top of the Physician Assistant scope within a team-based surgical model.
This role offers competitive compensation, a $20,000 sign-on bonus, and $10,000 in relocation assistance, along with a predictable schedule and strong inpatient focus.
Job Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive care to emergency and acute general surgery patients in an inpatient setting
• Perform pre‑operative and post‑operative rounding on inpatient units
• Initiate admissions and manage ongoing inpatient surgical care
• Coordinate OR cases and support daily surgical workflow
• Support post‑operative clinic operations every other Wednesday
• Complete discharge summaries and coordinate transitions of care
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests
• Prescribe and manage medications and treatments within scope of practice
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, nursing, technologists, and support staff
• Participate in protocol development, quality improvement initiatives, and education
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record
Surgical exposure includes (but is not limited to):
• Skin lesion and cyst excisions
• Colectomies
• Gallbladder surgeries
• Complex hernia repairs
• Emergency and acute general surgery cases
Qualifications
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
• National PA certification (or certification‑eligible)
• Acute care or inpatient experience preferred
• Active or eligible Arizona PA licensure
• Prescriptive authority and DEA license required
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Must become credentialed through the Professional Staffing Office prior to appointment
Working Hours
• Four (4) ten‑hour shifts per week (4x10s)
• Two (2) weekend days per month
• Primarily inpatient
Clinic coverage every other Wednesday
