Cardiac Surgery NP opening in Colorado Springs, CO ---Closest Metro: Denver, CO 80m Position Details
- Full-time, permanent Nurse Practitioner role on a cardiothoracic surgery team
- Provide advanced clinical care for cardiac and cardiothoracic surgery patients with a strong patient-first focus
- Assist in cardiac surgeries, including endoscopic vein harvesting and first assisting as needed
- Manage ICU and cardiovascular surgical patients across CVICU, inpatient floors, and clinic settings
- Participate in 2 full clinic days per week with additional clinic coverage as needed
- Rotate through operating room coverage Monday–Friday
- Perform bedside procedures appropriate to the patient population
- Order, interpret, and evaluate labs and diagnostic studies
- Develop and implement plans of care and follow-up based on patient outcomes
- Prescribe medications in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, intensivists, physicians, and multidisciplinary care teams
- Provide timely, high-quality clinical documentation
- Function independently under physician supervision using advanced clinical judgment
- Adapt to a high-acuity, fast-paced clinical environment
- No locums or locums-to-perm candidates accepted
- Visa support not available Call Schedule
- Weekday call: 1:4–5 rotation
- Weekend call: 1:4–5 rotation
- In-house NP covers overnight call from 8:30pm–6:30am Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master’s degree in Nursing
- Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (ANCC or AANP)
- Minimum 3+ years of cardiac or cardiovascular surgery experience with ICU patient management - Experience with endoscopic vein harvesting and first assisting required
- Active, unrestricted Colorado NP license (or ability to obtain)
- Unrestricted DEA license with full prescriptive authority
- BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross)
- Eligibility to bill Medicare and Medicaid
- No current or prior sanctions or exclusions
- Most recent NPDB self-query report (within 30 days)
