Seeking a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgery Physician Assistant for a full-time locum assignment in an acute care hospital setting. This role includes inpatient orthopedic care, emergency department coverage, surgical first assist, and shared call responsibilities. The position requires strong procedural skills, comfort working independently, and collaboration with orthopedic surgeons in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibilities
• Participate in daily inpatient rounds and multidisciplinary care coordination
• Order and perform diagnostic studies including X-rays, CT, MRI, EMG, and bone scans
• Perform procedures such as joint and bursa aspirations, injections, closed reductions, wound care, and minor surgical procedures
• Assist in orthopedic surgeries as first assist, including tissue closure and appliance application
• Serve as primary orthopedic call provider for emergency department and inpatient units
• Write orders, discharge summaries, H&Ps, and operative documentation
• Utilize EPIC EMR for documentation and order entry
• Participate in quality, safety, and documentation initiatives
Qualifications
• Active Oregon PA license – Required
• Eligible for Medical Staff or Allied Health privileges
• NPDB Self-Query – Required at submission
• CAQH profile (login credentials required at offer stage)
• Clean background and malpractice history
• Ability to work full time and start as scheduled
• Comfortable with night, weekend, and holiday call
Working Hours
• 4×10-hour shifts or 5×8-hour shifts
• Night call: 1–2 nights per week
• Weekend call: Every third weekend
• On-call required for nights, weekends, and holidays
• OT applies after 40 hours
• Work week: Sunday–Saturday

• Surgical first assist experience
• Joint aspirations and injections
• Closed fracture and dislocation reductions
• Casting, splinting, and brace application
• Wound management and minor surgical procedures
• EPIC EMR proficiency
• Ability to work independently in high-acuity settings
