e are seeking experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistants for a high-priority locum tenens assignment. This is a hospital-based role requiring strong operative and inpatient care experience, including active participation in cardiac surgical cases. Providers must be licensed in New Jersey, able to drive to the facility, and available to start immediately. The role includes weekday in-house shifts, night call, and weekend call with rounding responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities
• Perform endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) independently
• Retrieve vascular tissues for use as bypass conduits
• Insert and manage chest tubes
• Participate actively in operative cardiac cases
• Round on ICU and floor patients
• Manage inpatient consults
• Coordinate multidisciplinary patient care
• Diagnose and treat illnesses
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests
• Write prescriptions
• Perform suture removal
• Document care in the EMR system
Qualifications
• Active New Jersey PA license (must be in hand)
• Minimum 2–3 years of cardiothoracic or cardiac surgery experience
• Full proficiency in endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH)
• Ability to function independently in the OR
• Availability to start immediately
• NPDB Self-Query (within 30 days at presentation)
• Clean professional, malpractice, and credentialing history
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Must be semi-local / driving distance candidate
Working Hours
• Night Call: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
• Weekend Call: Friday 6:00 PM through Monday 6:00 AM
o Weekend rounding: Saturday & Sunday, 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• Shift Type: Varied (weekday, night, and weekend call)
• On Call: Yes
