Job description
We are seeking an experienced Locums Cardiovascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to support a high-acuity CV surgery team in Lansing, Michigan. This opportunity is based at a Level I Trauma Center and offers an excellent schedule with a 4-day workweek and shared call coverage.
Position Details
- Schedule: 4-day, 10-hour workweek
- Call Requirement:
- 1 in 4 weeks (first call from home)
- 1 weekend per month required
- Weekend Coverage: Yes
- Average Patient Volume: ~15 patients per day (weekends tend to be higher)
- Trauma Designation: Level I Trauma Center
- EMR: Epic
Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient cardiovascular surgery coverage including daily rounding and patient management
- Support pre-op and post-op care plans and coordinate patient flow with surgical and ICU teams
- Respond to consults and manage admissions and discharges
- Collaborate with cardiac surgeons, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality outcomes
- Document all care accurately and timely in Epic
Requirements
- Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Board Certified (AANP/ANCC for NP or NCCPA for PA)
- Active Michigan license (or eligible compact/NLC status where applicable)
- BLS and ACLS required
- Cardiovascular surgery or cardiothoracic surgery experience preferred
