Locum NP/PA – Trauma Hospitalist Coverage
Seeking a locum Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for coverage from May through July, with the potential for up to full-time work.
Practice Setting & Responsibilities

Primarily functions as a trauma hospitalist rounder
-
Occasional ED consults, trauma activations, and procedural work
-
Additional opportunities for providers with surgical or trauma critical care experience
-
No call responsibilities; in-house coverage only
-
Daily rounding and full management of admitted patients (hospitalists are not used)
-
Responding to ED trauma alerts, managing ER admissions, and facilitating discharges
-
Autonomous APP role with 24/7 Trauma Surgeon support
Patient Volume & Acuity

Average daily census:
-
10–14 non-ICU patients
-
~6 ICU patients
-
2–15 admissions per 24 hours
-
-
Trauma Level I adult center that also cares for pediatric patients
-
Patient age range: newborn through geriatric (primarily adult/adolescent)
Procedures (Preferred, not all required)
-
Vent and non-invasive ventilation management (BiPAP/CPAP)
-
Chest tube insertion
-
Central and arterial line placement
-
Suturing minor lacerations
Technology
-
EMR: Epic
Support & Supervision
-
APPs work autonomously
-
Trauma Surgeon available 24/7 for supervision and specialty backup

Local candidates preferred; mileage reimbursed only

Credentialing and application fees are not reimbursed
Requirements
-
Board Certified ACNP, AGNP, or PA-C
-
Active Minnesota license at time of name clear
-
ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certifications
-
DEA (verbal confirmation at name clear)
-
NPDB self-query (pulled within the same month as submission)
-
Minimum 1 year inpatient APP experience, ideally with trauma, ICU, or orthopedics
