We are seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant for a 24-day locum tenens assignment in Florida. This opportunity begins on Nov 21, 2025, and features 24-hour call shifts with daytime rounding, including coverage of CVICU and telemetry patients post cardiac surgery. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of first assist experience, be comfortable with vein harvesting, and be able to rotate to the CVICU as needed.

- Schedule: 24-hour call beginning at 7am, with up to 8 hours of daytime rounding; 1-2 weekends per month available in addition to primary schedule; specific open dates include Nov 21-25, Dec 19-23, Dec 29-30, Jan 2-6, Jan 12-13, Jan 16-20, and Jan 26-27
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide first assist support for cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including vein harvesting
- Perform daily rounding on CVICU and telemetry patients following cardiac surgery
- Participate in ICU coverage, with rotation to CVICU as required
- Respond to 24-hour call for surgical and patient care needs
- Collaborate with surgical and nursing teams to ensure high-quality patient outcomes
- Utilize Epic EMR for documentation and patient management
Additional Information
- Florida licensure required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C), and Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) certification required
- At least 1 year of first assist experience in cardiothoracic surgery required
- Experience at a trauma center or higher is a bonus
