We are seeking an experienced Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant for a 66-day locum tenens assignment in New Hampshire starting Jan 12, 2026. Job Details

Responsibilities and Duties
- Conduct preoperative evaluations including H&Ps, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, obtaining consents, and preparing patients for surgery
- Serve as surgical first assist for CABG, valve repairs/replacements, lobectomy, aneurysm repair, and other thoracic procedures
- Perform vein and artery harvesting (e.g., saphenous, radial)
- Control hemostasis, close wounds, and manage chest tubes intraoperatively
- Provide postoperative management in ICU and step-down units, including rounding, managing drains and wounds, and monitoring for complications
- Educate patients and coordinate discharges according to surgical protocols
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy and perioperative patient management
Additional Information
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a surgical first assist, preferably in cardiovascular or thoracic surgery
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Must hold or be eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant in New Hampshire
