Position Overview
A leading New Jersey health system is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant specializing in Neurosurgery. This position offers a 50/50 inpatient–outpatient split, dedicated OR time, and direct collaboration with staff Neurosurgeons.
The PA will assist with surgical procedures, manage postoperative patients, and perform outpatient follow-ups. This is a weekday position with no required call, ideal for an experienced neurosurgical PA seeking a stable and well-supported locum role.
Assignment Length: 26 weeks

Assignment Highlights

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Outpatient Office: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday (8 AM–12 PM)

Inpatient Rounding: Monday–Friday afternoons

OR Day: Tuesday

Pediatric Rounds: Friday (HUMC)

Call: None required (subject to provider need)

Patient Volume: 9–15 outpatient visits per day; variable inpatient rounding volume

Procedures: Inpatient only – cervical, lumbar, and subdural hematomas

Pay ranks top 15% nationally for neurosurgery PA locum roles
Skills & Experience
-
Active New Jersey Physician Assistant License – required
-
CDS and DEA – current and required
-
Trauma experience required (mentorship available if limited exposure)

Minimum 3 years of neurosurgery or surgical PA experience preferred

Strong inpatient/outpatient and surgical management skills
