Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons affiliated with the South Coast Orthopedic Associates (SCOA) to provide comprehensive orthopedic care.
- Perform surgical assisting, including tissue closure and intraoperative support.
- Manage preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient care, including floor rounding, patient education, and discharge planning.
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations by performing comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays, MRI, CT scans, EMGs, and laboratory studies.
- Prescribe medications within scope of practice, including pain management and antibiotics.
- Perform minor procedures including joint aspirations, injections, digital blocks, wound management, and reduction of trauma.
- Assist in surgical procedures, including first assist duties and tissue closures.
- Serve as the primary orthopedic contact for emergency department and inpatient care, including shared call duties equitable among team members.
- Develop and implement treatment plans for orthopedic conditions, exercising clinical judgment on when to consult or refer to supervising surgeons.
- Maintain accurate documentation within electronic medical records (Epic).
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, patient education, and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Board Certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) required.
- Valid Oregon license to practice as a PA preferred; must be eligible for licensure if not already licensed.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience in orthopedic surgery or trauma care is preferred but new graduates with strong clinical skills will be considered.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (Epic preferred).
Schedule and Compensation:
- Full-time, predominantly day shifts with shared on-call responsibilities (schedule to be determined).
- Occasional weekend shifts may be required.
- Competitive base salary starting at $160,000 based on experience.
- Sign-on bonus up to $10,000, with potential relocation assistance.
- Robust benefits package including a 6% retirement match, generous PTO, CME allowance, licensing and professional fee reimbursement, onsite Health & Wellness Clinic, and onsite Child Care and Learning Center.
