- Other Details: A high-priority, full-time opportunity is available for experienced Acute Care Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants in General Surgery at a Pennsylvania facility starting May 1, 2025, due to turnover. Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience. BLS and CPR certifications are required; DEA is also mandatory, though a CSR is not needed. Providers should be available a minimum of 2 weeks per month and will work Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, covering approximately 20 shifts per month. Responsibilities include floor management (daily rounds, patient orders, progress notes, discharges), ER consults/admissions (evaluations, operative planning, documentation), and serving as a first assistant in general surgery cases (open, laparoscopic, robotic), with full pre- and post-operative care. Call is required with a 30-minute beeper response time, though average admissions while on call are zero. Candidates will not work solo.

Job Responsibilities
- Perform bedside procedures such as dressing changes and drain/NGT removal
- Conduct consults and ER admissions with comprehensive physical exams and documentation
- Communicate effectively with attending physicians regarding patient care and operative planning
- First assist in general surgery cases, including open, laparoscopic, and robotic procedures
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care
- Participate in on-call coverage with a 30-minute response time
Qualifications
- Active Pennsylvania medical license (IMLC not accepted)
- Board certified with a minimum of 2 years of experience in acute care or general surgery
- Current BLS and CPR certifications
- Valid DEA license (CSR not required)
- Minimum availability of 2 weeks per month
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Approximately 20 shifts per month
- On-call required with 30-minute beeper response
- Estimated 90-day credentialing timeline
Skills
- Skilled in performing bedside procedures and assisting in surgery
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- Effective communication with attending surgeons, nursing staff, and patients
- Familiarity with Epic EMR
- Ability to function in a high-volume, fast-paced surgical environment
