A respected health system on Long Island is seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant to support its open-heart surgical program in a full-time, direct-hire role. This is a high-priority opportunity for a PA who is comfortable in a fast-paced cardiovascular surgery environment and wants to be part of a collaborative, high-acuity clinical team.

Position Overview
- Support the surgical open-heart program
- Provide clinical care in collaboration with supervising physicians and associated medical teams
- Deliver patient care across the inpatient, surgical, and/or outpatient setting as needed
- Exercise sound clinical judgment involving evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up care
- Order medications, diagnostics, and therapeutic interventions within scope of practice
- Perform preventive, corrective, and therapeutic measures as appropriate
- Serve as an experienced clinical resource with leadership and mentorship responsibilities for PA staff and related teams
- Maintain accountability for patient care and continuity in a high-acuity cardiovascular environment
Candidate Profile
- Graduate of an Accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master’s degree preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable working in a structured hospital environment with multidisciplinary teams
- Basic Microsoft Office proficiency required
- Previous Epic experience preferred
- Able to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, bending, lifting, and maintaining dexterity for extended periods
Required Licensure and Certifications
- Current New York State Physician Assistant Licensure/Registration
- Current certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Current licensure issued by the NYS Board of Medicine
- Current unrestricted DEA certificate for mid-level providers
- Current NYS Mandated Infection Control Course Certificate
- Current BLS and ACLS
Experience Requirements
- Recent OR experience required
- Recent experience as a Cardiothoracic Surgery First Assist strongly preferred
- Vessel harvesting experience preferred
- Prior experience in cardiovascular or cardiothoracic surgery settings is highly valued
Working Conditions
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required
- Moderate physical activity involved
- Role requires the ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, and perform fine motor tasks for short or extended periods
