Position Overview:

We have an immediate need for a Part-time contract Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant to provide Cardiothoracic specialized services for our veteran population at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System in San Francisco, CA. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in veterans’ lives while experiencing the unique beauty of Bay Area.

Scope of Care:

Critical services include:

• Endoscopic radial and saphenous vein harvesting (must have documented experience of >100 endoscopic procedures in each location)

• Ultrasound guided arterial and venous access for central line placement

• Chest tube and pigtail insertion and removal

• Insertion and removal of Swan-Ganz catheter

• Removal of pacing wires, cardioversion

• Performance of first and second assistant responsibilities in cardiothoracic surgery in the operating room, as well as bedside assistant for robotic procedures.

All contract CTPAs must receive a passing score on the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE) for initial board certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and maintain a California Physician Assistant Board license.

Credentialling and onboarding takes approximately 4-6 weeks.

Hours & Schedule:

• Work Schedule: 2 days per week, 6 hours per day.
• Normal VA Business Hours: 8:00am – 4:30pm

• One active, unrestricted PA License in any state
