Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery ICU APP Needed in California
Target Start Date: March 2, 2026 (flexible)
Contract Length: 26-week assignment (full-time), flexible options available
Schedule
Coverage Type: Scheduled clinical hours — no call
Shift Structure & Expectations:
3×12 schedule: Days
Shift: 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Rotating weekends & holidays
Full-time acute care ICU coverage
EMR: Not specified

Setting:
Large academic teaching hospital
Level I Trauma Center
Specialized pediatric cardiac ICU environment
Patient Population:
Critically ill pediatric patients requiring cardiothoracic surgical ICU care
Support Team:
Multidisciplinary team including intensivists, cardiothoracic surgeons, APPs, and specialized ICU nursing staff
Reason for Opening:
Permanent staff relocation
Contract Flexibility:
Open to blocked scheduling
Open to shorter or longer contract variations (minimum 13 weeks considered)
Clinical Responsibilities
Full-scope Pediatric Cardiac ICU management
Managing post-operative pediatric cardiac surgery patients
Advanced cardiac critical care responsibilities
High-acuity cardiac ICU monitoring, interventions, and patient rounding
Collaboration with pediatric CT surgeons and ICU attendings
Requirements
Role: Nurse Practitioner – Pediatric Critical Care / Pediatric Cardiac ICU
Experience:
Minimum 2 years required
Must have pediatric cardiac ICU experience
Not a fit: Adult-only APPs or Peds ICU APPs without heart/cardiac background
License:
Active California license required
Not willing to license unless candidate is a PA
Certifications: Not specified in original data
Skills Required:
Advanced pediatric cardiac ICU competency
Ability to manage high-acuity CT surgical patients
Comfort in a teaching hospital environment
Credentialing Timeframe: ~7 weeks
