Locum Cardiovascular Surgery Physician Assistant
Hospital is seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Surgery PA for a locum assignment covering paternity leave. This role is primarily operating room–focused with additional responsibilities in ICU and floor management. The position includes a mix of weekday shifts and limited home call, working under the supervision of a Supervisory Physician.
Dates / Schedule

Coverage Dates: February 1, 2026 – May 1, 2026

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM

Call: 1–2 evenings per week; operating call from home (approx. 1/week)

Credentialing Timeframe: ~1 month

Travel Support: Hotel, flight, and rental car reimbursed
Job Details / Responsibilities

Hospital-based cardiac surgery role with primary OR responsibilities

Additional ICU and floor coverage as needed

Work under supervision (not autonomous)

Patient population: Adults
-
Trauma Level II facility
-
EMR: Epic
-
Perform key cardiovascular surgery PA duties including:

Chest tube insertions
-
Vein harvesting / vascular tissue retrieval for bypass conduit

First assist in cardiac surgery

Robotic experience is a plus
Required Skills & Qualifications
-
NCCPA certification
-
Active New York PA license
-
BLS and ACLS certifications
-
Significant experience in cardiac surgery, including first assist and vein harvest

Ability to participate in call schedule as outlined
