Our client in Petersburg, VA is in need of a Psychiatric provider, either a Psychiatrist, Psych NP, or Psych PA for full-time work.

This assignment will last approximately 90 days with the possibility of an extension or as transitioning to a full time employee beyond the original 90 day assignment. We request that you only respond with the medical staff indicated that will be able to meet our needs. An overview of the position is as follows:

Civil Unit – Admissions

· 10-24 patients divided between 2 psychiatric providers

· Average # of admissions/discharges per day per provider 0-5, average length of stay is 7 days

Forensic / Civil Unit & Admissions Unit

· 14-22 beds

· Males

· Average # of patients seen individually per day 4-6

Daily Responsibilities

· Making rounds (meet with treatment team and patients, write orders)

· Evaluations (Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluations, Annual Evaluations, Capacity Assessment)

· Admissions will not be responsible for physicals (done by PCP)

· Judicial hearings on site for commitment of / or court – ordered meds

· Discharges, (orders, discharge instruction form and summary)

· Occasional cross coverage on other wards, maybe transferred to a different ward depending on need

· No night or weekend duties required; OT work needs to be pre-approved

Requirements

· Board eligible/certified in general psychiatry (for psychiatrists)

· Experience in psychiatry (NPs, PAs)

· Current and active Virginia License and DEA
