*Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatry opening in Alton, IL** 20 miles to St. Louis Full Time Job Description: Diagnoses and assesses the needs of mentally ill clients; makes appropriate referrals; prescribes and monitors medications; provides wellness coaching and medical consultation; serves as liaison between client, physician/psychiatrist, lab, pharmacist, family or residential facility staff, and other community caregivers. Services are provided to individuals, families, groups, and communities with health needs ranging from simple to complex and are focused on crisis stabilization; the promotion of optimum wellness, disease prevention and integration of primary and mental health care. Provides outstanding internal and external customer service. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Provide outstanding internal and external customer service by communicating and interacting in a cordial, respectful, and professional manner. - Includes, but is not limited to being prompt, pleasant, personable, focused, responsive, appreciative, and providing assistance within scope of position. - Includes consistently returning phone calls and e-mails within 24 hours and updating voicemail/out of office e-mail, as well as consistently using pleasant tone and having a helpful attitude. - The incumbent is expected to consistently meet the outstanding internal and external customer service requirements for this position. - Assess, including assessments for lethality, and diagnosis mentally ill clients in crisis center and outpatient settings, refer/link clients to appropriate services, and coordinate care across multiple providers. - Prescribe and monitor medications as clinically indicated. Monitor vital signs. Provide medication management and consultation. - Facilitate communication of treatment needs/adjustments to the primary care team, as well as coordinate care across multiple medical providers on behalf of the team. - Function as liaison between client, psychiatrist, lab, pharmacist, primary care physician, family or residential facility staff, and other community caregivers. - Meet agency best practice standards. - Complete assigned documentation including integrated treatment plans which include disease specific goals, objectives, and interventions both in electronic and paper processes. - Provide preventive healthcare education, including planning and leading/co-leading groups that support wellness initiatives that may include smoking cessation, weight management, other disease management and physical exercise. - Provide other direct and indirect nursing services, including supportive counseling. - Provide appropriate case and program consultation with other staff members, and participate in intra-agency conferences for the purpose of in-service training, and mutual consultation and education. - Provide on-site supervision for student nurses, and consultation, education and in-service training in community mental health nursing. - Compile and provide necessary data for program and Corporation statistical and fiscal reporting and other regular or special documentation, as needed. - Participate in workshops, conferences and other special meetings intended to improve community mental health nursing skills. - Participate as an effective member of the crisis/medical team. - Provide consultation with internal and external service providers to facilitate consistent service planning and service provision and to minimize duplication of effort. - Perform other duties, not inconsistent with qualifications and regular duties, as may be assigned from time to time. MINIMUM CREDENTIALS - Education: Position requires an Advanced Registered Nurse Degree from an accredited school. Must be a Registered Nurse licensed pursuant to the Nurse Practice Act 225 ILCS65. - Experience Position preference is for a minimum of one year of work experience, preferably psychiatric nursing services. - Licensure Position requires Advanced Practice Nurse license and Advanced Practice Nurse Controlled Substance license through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, and a Controlled Substance - Registration Certificate through the Drug Enforcement Administration.
